Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to launch start-up portal today

In its determined bid to push entrepreneurship and start-ups in the State, Patnaik will launch the Start-Up Odisha portal on Monday.

BHUBANESWAR: In its determined bid to push entrepreneurship and start-ups in the State, Odisha Government will launch the Start-Up Odisha portal on Monday which will provide online services and hand-holding support in a big way.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to unveil the portal which will enable start-ups, incubators and angel investors to register online. The MSME Department has created the portal through which registered firms can avail the financial benefits which were incorporated in the Odisha Start-Up Policy 2016 amended in March.

As per the amended policy, start-ups can get a monthly assistance of Rs 20,000 at the idea and prototype stage for a period of one year. Similarly, the marketing and product development assistance to a ceiling of Rs 15 lakh can also be provided through the portal which has been linked to Ministry of Company Affairs so that all firms registered with it are reflected on the start-up portal automatically.

Similarly, one time grant of 50 per cent of capital cost up to a maximum of Rs one crore to set up an existing incubator facility, day-to-day utility expenses assistance for three years and matching grant from the State to the tune of `two crore for raising funds for physical infrastructure can also be availed directly through the portal.

A key highlight of the portal will be the four-week online entrepreneurship programme for all youths for free. The Learning and Development Programme has been designed by Invest India with which the MSME Department of the State Government has signed an agreement.
