Encroachments to be cleared to decongest traffic

IN order to ease the flow of traffic on the busy routes of the town, the district administration has decided to remove encroachments and sought the intervention of stakeholders to expedite the process

JAGATSINGHPUR: IN order to ease the flow of traffic on the busy routes of the town, the district administration has decided to remove encroachments and sought the intervention of stakeholders to expedite the process.

At a meeting on Tuesday, Collector Yamini Sarangi sought the cooperation of the elected representatives and district-level officials to expedite the process to remove encroachment.
Last week, the district administration had evicted hundreds of illegal shops which had come up on different routes of Sanabazaar, bus stand and other streets.
Heavy traffic congestion between Thana Chowk and Town Hall disrupts the movement of vehicles.
Even ambulances are kept waiting  for the traffic to be cleared to reach the District Headquarters Hospital. Realising this, the administration has taken steps for removal of encroachments from May 28.

Meanwhile, the administration has identified lands at Sankruti Bhavan, Banamali book store site and Xavier School for rehabilitation of those evicted. Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, Bishnu Das, local MLA Chiranjeeb Biswal, chairman of Jagatsinghpur Municipality Biplab Chaudhury and SP JN Pankaj were present.
