Boy sustains burn injuries as miscreants set house on fire in Odisha

A 15-year-old boy sustained burn injuries after some unidentified miscreants allegedly tried to set his house on fire at Duarsuni village near here in Kalahandi district on Wednesday night.

BHAWANIPATNA: A 15-year-old boy sustained burn injuries after some unidentified miscreants allegedly tried to set his house on fire at Duarsuni village near here in Kalahandi district on Wednesday night.

The boy, Chandan Naik, son of the house owner, was asleep in a room when unidentified miscreants threw petrol through a window and set the room ablaze, police said.

The family members extinguished the fire. They then admitted Chandan in Bhawanipatna Government hospital.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bhawanipatna Biranchi Dehuri said the boy is out of danger.

While no FIR has so far been filed by the family members in connection with the incident, police can take up investigation on its own on the basis of medical report. Police suspect  old enmity to be the reason behind the incident, the SDPO added.
