Congress meet for organisational polls in Odisha

Amid demands for ouster of president of OPCC following the disappointing performance of Congress in panchayat polls, the party on Thursday started preparations for the organisational polls.

BHUBANESWAR: Amid demands for ouster of president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), Prasad Harichandan, following the disappointing performance of Congress in panchayat polls, the party on Thursday started preparations for the organisational polls.

Harichandan presided over a meeting of presidents of District Congress Committees (DCC) in this regard at Congress Bhawan here.

State Returning Officer and former president of West Bengal Congress Committee Somen Mitra, secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Subhonkar Sarkar and other leaders connected to the organisational polls were present. The DCC presidents gave details about membership drive in their areas.

Mitra and Harichandan emphasised on the need for timely completion of organisational polls as per guidelines issued by AICC.
