Nursing courses in SCB, VIMSAR from next year

BHUBANESWAR: THE State Government is all set to open a College of Nursing in SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack from next academic year.Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena said building infrastructure for the institution is ready while ancillary works which have been expedited will be completed soon.

“The Government already has essentiality certificate and no objection certificate. The institution will be inaugurated shortly and admission will commence from 2018-19 academic session,” Jena said.
While SCB Medical College and Hospital will offer BSc nursing course, Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) will impart education in both BSc nursing and MSc Nursing courses.

“SCB nursing college will have 100 seats for BSc nursing course. At VIMSAR, there will be 50 seats for basic BSc nursing, 25 seats for BSc nursing and 25 seats for MSc nursing courses,” Jen added.
Meanwhile, the Minister paid a surprise visit to the Government Ayurvedic College in Bhubaneswar and visited different wards. He also interacted with the patients and wanted to know problems they are facing at the hospital.

Jena expressed displeasure over the kind of service provided at the health unit and directed the Director of Ayush to take immediate measures for filling of vacancies and distribution of medicines free of cost.
