Man held for duping, stealing car

Police on Tuesday arrested a man for stealing a car. He has been identified Dipti Ranjan Mohanty of Kendrapara.

BHUBANESWAR: Police on Tuesday arrested a man for stealing a car. He has been identified Dipti Ranjan Mohanty of Kendrapara. Police said, claiming himself to be a choreographer Mohanty met Debashish Mishra of Jaydev Vihar at Khandagiri on the pretext of taking an audition of Mishra’s sister. Mohanty told Mishra that he will provide the girl a child artist’s role in an Odia movie. Mohanty asked Mishra to give his car as he had planned few other auditions in the city. But, as Mohanty did not return Mishra lodged a complaint with Khandagiri police. “We nabbed Mohanty recently and recovered the stolen car from him,” police said

Man held for molesting woman

A man from Ganjam district, Satrughana Nayak, was arrested for molesting a woman in Sabar Sahi under Mancheswar police limits on Monday evening. The woman, who works in a city-based private firm, was walking home in Sabar Sahi at about 7 pm, when she was intercepted and molested by Nayak. Shocked, the woman protested following which Nayak threatened her with a knife. She managed to escape and enter a house nearby but Nayak followed her. Nayak also attacked the woman’s father who tried to nab him.
Locals and her father overpowered Nayak and handed him over to PCR vehicle personnel. Nayak was unemployed and staying in the city from the last few months. Cops seized the knife and registered a case. He was produced in court on Monday,” Mancheswar police said.
