CUTTACK: THE Kunduli gang-rape survivor was on Monday admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of medicine department in SCB Medical College and Hospital here after her condition worsened.
The gang-rape survivor was shifted from Saheed Laxman Nayak MCH in Koraput to SCBMCH on Saturday night with symptoms of repeated blood vomiting. “The girl’s condition worsened due to intake of excess iron tablets. She is under treatment of Dr SP Mohanty, Associate Professor, Medicine Department,” said SCBMCH Superintendent Shyama Kanungo.

An 11-member special team of doctors headed by Medicine HoD, Dr Pravat Padhi has been constituted for her treatment, Kanungo added.While Dr  Mohanty is the member convener, professors and HoD of Anaestheisology, Cardiology, FMT, Neurology, Psychiatry, Obstruction and Gynaecology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Clinical Haematology have been included as members in the special medical board constituted under the chairmanship of Dr. Padhi, she added.

The board members have been requested to examine the victim everyday at 11.30 am and submit a report to superintendent for further course of action, Kanungo informed. The Class-IX student of Koraput district was allegedly gang-raped by a group of security personnel on October 10 while returning from school.
The officials of District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) had admitted the minor to Koraput hospital after blood was noticed in her vomit at Tribal Welfare (TRW) School in Kotapad, where she was kept.
The victim is currently in the custody of CWC as her family members refused to accept her after she was discharged from the hospital.
