Prisita Preetam, a student of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur here, created a prototype of an Aadhaar-linked dustbin which saw her get selected for participation in 105th Session of Indian Science Congress to be held at Osmania University in Hyderabad in January next year. She will be the only one to represent the State at the National meet.

The dustbin uses a sensor to detect disposal of waste which then prompts a command for Aadhaar biometrics verification. Once the fingerprints match successfully, the person disposing waste will get reward points which will be sent through a message and also get recorded.

Prisita’s idea is to encourage more and more people to use dustbins to dispose of garbage and create alerts for the civic administration in case these disposal bins are not cleared on time. She used common materials like integrated circuit, Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (Mosfet), bipolar junction triode, capacitor, a 9 volt battery to execute her project. The idea, she said, is to support the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Daughter of Barang Tehsildar Bijay Nayak, Prisita’s innovative project was displayed at Indian Science Congress, Odisha Chapter session held at KIIT University earlier this month and was highly appreciated.ENS
