BHUBANESWAR: The Health and Family Welfare Department and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) are set to launch a vaccination campaign against Japanese Encephalitis here from November 27. In the three-week campaign, around 2,24,264 children in the age group of one to five are targeted to be vaccinated.

Students of all Government school, private school, Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, madrasas, play schools and children staying at orphanages in the city will be covered during the campaign.Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, ANMs and health workers have been assigned the task of administering the vaccine. They have been sensitised about the campaign, a BMC official said. The drive will also be carried out in the slums where children between 1 year and 15 years will be vaccinated against JE, he added.A coordination meeting was organised at BMC office here on Thursday to discuss about the drive and chalk out measures to vaccinate the vulnerable groups.
