BHUBANESWAR: The future of the world lies in power and passion of youth, said eminent poet and literary critic Padma Vibhushan Sitakanta Mahapatra here on Friday. Speaking at a symposium on Soka Gakkai International (SGI) president Daisaku Ikeda’s 2017 peace proposal, he said since peace is the prime need of mankind nowadays, it is high time that everybody should focus on how to maintain peace.
 Former information commissioner Jagadananda said the country needs active citizens and a critical mass of hope to make sustainable development goal framework operational.


Expressing concern over growing regional tensions, Director of Nabarad Anup Kumar Dash stressed on the need for a fundamental shift in thinking and approach to life and happiness. Writer and editor Dr Iti Samanta said, “A major force for good lies with the youth. They can drive the world in a positive direction by countering feelings of hatred, inequality and violence.”
The  symposium was organised by Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG), the Indian arm of SGI. Among others, chairperson of BSG Vishesh Gupta and Director of BSG Rashi Ahuja also spoke.
