ROURKELA: Rourkela BJP legislator alleged that the BJD Government is showing step-motherly attitude towards tribal-dominated Sundargarh district.

Ray claimed that the State Government is nursing a grudge and deliberately not filling up the vacancies of doctors and para-medics. He said Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena, while replying to his questions in the Assembly, had admitted that about 165 doctor posts and 232 staff nurse posts were lying vacant in the district.

The district, which is rich in minerals and other natural resources, contributes huge revenue to the State exchequer. However, the Government has neglected health and education sectors in the district which are grappling with vacancies, he alleged.“Political consideration should not come in the way of development,” he said.
