Government sanctions four urban infra projects

The State Government, on Wednesday, approved four urban infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,289 lakh under Urban Infrastructure Development Fund.

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government, on Wednesday, approved four urban infrastructure projects worth `1,289 lakh under Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (OUIDF).
Chairing the Board of Trustees meeting of OUIDF, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi directed the officials of HUD department to assess the outcome of the completed projects from the perspectives of service delivery and revenue generation.

Padhi further directed OUIDF to explore multiple sources of funding for sustainability of the support to urban local bodies. The new projects sanctioned include, toilet on wheels in Bhubaneswar estimated at `56.2 lakh. This project would be set up at three heritage sites, Master Canteen and Baramunda bus stand in the Capital.The other projects sanctioned, include reclamation of water bodies at Hinjilicut and Titlagarh estimated at `540.25 lakh and `541.33 lakh respectively, compost plant in temporary transfer station at Gadakana in Bhubaneswar at a cost of `152 lakh.

The primary objective of the reclamation projects were conservation and sustainable management of the water bodies. Besides, the projects would also focus on restoration and development of lake periphery for better eco-system, aesthetics and environment building including tourist attraction. The meeting also reviewed the progress of major projects including augmentation of water supply to Goplapur municipality, fish markets in Sambalpur, modern abattoir at Gadakana, bulk water supply projects for IIT, NISER and Infocity, sewerage system at Rourkela, slum rehabilitation project at Sudhipur, Satyanagar and Gadakana of Bhubaneswar and sewerage system at Sambalpur.Special Secretary, HUD, Prem Kumar Jha said credit ranking of 9 AMRUT cities has been completed.

ULB chairmen meet in Capital

Bhubaneswar: The chairmen of several Urban Local Bodies (ULB) in the State on Wednesday held a meeting at Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office here and discussed several issues. At the meeting, the officials condemned the murder of Chhatrapur ward number - 6 councillor, Laxmidutta Pradhan. Pradhan was attacked by over 10 miscreants near his house on September 16. The officials met Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, who is also the president of ULB Association, and apprised him about their issues. Sources said the officials will hold an executive meeting after the Durga Puja and convey the issues of various ULBs to the Chief Minister through the association’s president.
