Idco to identify land for new airport

THE State Government has asked Idco to identify 2,000 acre of land close to the Capital City for the proposed new greenfield international airport.

BHUBANESWAR: THE State Government has asked Idco to identify 2,000 acre of land close to the Capital City for the proposed new greenfield international airport. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) had proposed for a new international airport on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar citing that the existing BPIA is not suitable for further expansion.

Earlier, though the Idco had identified 2,000 acres of land near Malipada in Khurda district for the proposed airport, the AAI after conducting a feasibility study had found the place unsuitable for an international airport. “The land required for the proposed airport will be about 1500 to 2000 acres and preferably not far from the main city,” Additional Secretary to the Government PK Biswal stated in a letter to the CMD of Idco, urging him to submit the land proposal soon.
