JEYPORE: Anganwadi workers of Koraput district have decided to intensify their agitation over their 2-point charter of demands from Monday.Though as many as 6,000 anganwadi workers and helpers of about 3,200 centres have been staging protest in front of ICDS project offices at block level for the last 10 days, the State Government is yet to act in this regard. However, the workers have decided to go on agitation before the district social welfare office over the issue.
Meanwhile, the implementation of several women and child welfare schemes of the State Government has come to a grinding halt in the district. About 20,000 beneficiaries of the district have been deprived of the facilities provided at anganwadi centres.Their demands include salary hike and recognition of their jobs as Government employees.Admitting the fact, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) P Singh said her office has already informed the State Government over the issue.
