BARGARH : Police on Tuesday searched the house of Labour Minister Sushant Singh at Bausenmura in Sohela as part of the drive against stashed illegal cash meant for use in Bijepur by-election. However, the cops returned empty-handed from the house of Singh, who is managing the by-poll for BJD in Bijepur.
Bargarh SP J N Pankaj confirmed about the search on Singh’s house. DSP N P Nayak said police raided the Minister’s house on the basis of an allegation but found nothing.

On the other hand, BJP termed the search as hogwash and said the exercise was carried out to mislead the people and everything was stage-managed. BJP leaders said police have been acting as agents of BJD and the search was aimed at saving their skin. Meanwhile, a ‘Press’ vehicle was intercepted by police on allegations that it was being used to distribute money in villages during night. However, on search, publicity material of BJP was found inside the vehicle from Jajpur. The owner was let off after a warning.
