BHUBANESWAR:  As many as 12 District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs), seven Sub-Divisional Hospitals (SDHs), 28 Community Health Centres (CHCs), 30 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and 14 upgraded PHCs were presented Kayakalp Award on Wednesday for promoting cleanliness, hygiene and creating sustainable practices. Kayakalp award to public health facilities was launched on May 15, 2015 and all DHHs, SDHs, CHCs, PHCs and UPHCs were taken up for scrutiny for the current year.

“Cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene play a pivotal role in healthcare delivery. They not only improve ambience and aesthetics but also help to  reduce infections resulting in reduced length of hospital stay and  costs of treatment,” said Health Secretary Dr Pramod Meherda. In DHH category Capital Hospital won the first prize of `50 lakh, Kalahandi DHH received second prize of `20 lakh. Similarly, Rairangpur SDH and Jashipur CHC won first prize of `15 lakh and second prize of `10 lakh respectively in SDH category. ENS
