BHUBANESWAR: A woman was arrested by police on Wednesday for `59 lakh land fraud. The woman, Saraswati Patnaik of Cuttack district, was staying in Unit-V area here and working as a peon in a government office. Patnaik had allegedly taken `59 lakh from Banajyoshna Das of Garage Square in 2014 on the pretext of providing her a plot in the Capital City.
Patnaik and her son, who has an office in Nayapalli area, did not execute the deal nor refunded the money to Das. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she raised a voice. However, Das approached Nayapalli police and lodged a complaint.A case has been registered and Patnaik was produced in a court on Wednesday,” Nayapalli police said, adding that they have launched a search operation to nab Patnaik’s son, who is also allegedly involved in the fraud.
