The State Government on Thursday strongly pitched for investment in the State with foreign delegates attending the Global Economic Summit in Mumbai.

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government on Thursday strongly pitched for investment in the State with foreign delegates attending the Global Economic Summit in Mumbai.A Team Odisha delegation, led by Additional Chief Secretary MSME LN Gupta, met Ambassador of Poland, Representative of United Nations, Minister Counsellor Uganda High Commission, Counsellor High Commission of Bhutan and Director General of Trade Promotion of Cambodia seeking their support in attracting investment and their participation in the forthcoming MSME International Trade Fair in March 2018 and Make-in-Odisha conclave in November this year.

Earlier, addressing the 7th Global Ecomic Summit (GES) on global value chain at World Trade Centre, Mumbai, Gupta said availability of world class infrastructure backed by state-of-the-art logistic services is required for effective integration of MSME sector with the value chain.

Highlighting the measures taken by Odisha Government, Gupta said the State has set up a Skill Development Authority with an aim to train 11 lakh youths by 2019-20 and 8.5 lakh youths have already been skilled. The State has been promoting “Skilled in Odisha” brand globally with an objective to provide a skilled workforce comparable to the best in the world.

Promotion of start-ups, innovation and entrepreneurship remain top priority of Odisha for which the State Government has launched Startup Odisha Initiative with a mission to support 1000 Startups and envisions itself as emerging among the top 3 Startup hubs in the country. In the last 10 months, 175 Startups have been registered under this initiative. Besides, 5 registered and 20 other incubators are working under the initiative, he added.
