 IN a shocking incident, a Class VII girl ran away from her house to escape marriage at Bangiriposi area of Mayurbhanj district. The girl has sought the help of district administration.

BARIPADA: IN a shocking incident, a Class VII girl ran away from her house to escape marriage at Bangiriposi area of Mayurbhanj district. The girl has sought the help of district administration.
According to sources, the girl informed the district administration that she wanted to study and her family members were forcing her to get married. The girl hails from Gangaraj village under Kuliana police limits in the district. Her marriage was scheduled to be solemnised on Thursday.

Sources said she left her house on the day when her marriage was fixed with a youth of Bangiriposi area in the absence of her father.The girl brought the matter to the notice of her school teacher, who later informed police and Child Line officials at Baripada with the help of local representative. Later, the girl refused to return to her house and approached the district administration to help her, said sources.

District Child Protection Officer (DCPO)Mamata Mayee Biswal confirmed the incident. “The department has immediately rescued the girl. Steps are being taken to make arrangements for her education and accommodation by the district administration after counselling her parents,”the DCPO added.
