Cyber fraudster detained

A cyber fraudster, identified as Chetan Sharma, in his twenties and resident of Jagda area, has been detained by Rourkela police after the cyber crime wing detected his involvement in several fraudulent transactions across several States.

ROURKELA: A cyber fraudster, identified as Chetan Sharma, in his twenties and resident of Jagda area, has been detained by Rourkela police after the cyber crime wing detected his involvement in several fraudulent transactions across several States.

Rourkela SP Uma Shankar Dash said in course of investigation it was detected that Sharma was luring and duping gullible persons with various offers and receiving online payments in different bank accounts. The SP said he used to trap the victims through phone calls and email communications and during investigation, they learnt that a case was registered at Banaglore police station. He said the Bangalore police are likely to arrive shortly for further investigation.

Reports said nearly 14 bank accounts used for fraudulent activities have been detected, but police have not yet figured out the total bank deposits. Sharma was also engaged as recovery agent of a bank.
