CBI notice to two IAS officers in relation to Seashore Group

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued summons to an IAS officer and a retired IAS officer asking them to appear before it on July 2.

BHUBANESWAR: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued summons to an IAS officer and a retired IAS officer asking them to appear before it on July 2 for questioning them in connection with their alleged links with the Seashore Group. Sources said the IAS officer, who is on Central deputation, was the Secretary of Tourism Department, and the retired IAS officer was working as the general manager of OTDC during the period when the ponzi firm duped hundreds of investors on the pretext of higher returns.

In 2017, CBI had arrested retired IAS officer Pradeep Kumar Hota for his involvement in Seashore Group chit fund scam. He had allegedly availed financial benefit from the Group to extend undue favour to the ponzi firm. The names of some bureaucrats, police officers and politicians have been doing the rounds since CBI seized four diaries from Seashore conduit Subhankar Nayak in 2014. In the diaries, Nayak had reportedly mentioned the names of some government officers for indulging in quid pro quo with the Seashore Group to support its business.
