e-library opens in Commissionerate Police office, similar facility in DCP office planned

The e-library has literature, reading materials and books in digitised form. Commissionerate Police apprised that through e-library the cops will be able to access Manupatra portal.

BHUBANESWAR: An e-library and Cyber Investigation Training Cell was inaugurated at Commissionerate Police office here on Friday. Twin City Commissioner of Police YB Khurania said the e-library has been built with the objective of keeping the materials and judgments pertaining to law, particularly crime matters, up to date.

“The officers attached with Commissionerate Police can utilise the e-library. Though the e-library has been opened at the headquarters, our efforts are to set-up similar facility at Bhubaneswar DCP’s office and Cuttack DCP’s office,” Khurania informed.

The e-library has literature, reading materials and books in digitised form. Commissionerate Police apprised that through e-library the cops will be able to access Manupatra portal, which contains judgments of Supreme Court and other High Courts of the country since 1950. The e-library will also provide access to various other websites, Central and State Acts, judgments of various tribunals and commissions, and others.

The senior police officers stressed that with rising cyber crimes, there was a need for upgrading the skills of cops. “For enhancing cyber crime investigation techniques, Cyber Investigation Training Cell has been equipped with basic investigation tools for the purpose. The investigating officers will be able to undergo training at the cyber cell for improving their skills to investigate the cyber crimes,” a policeman said.
