Vedanta to set up 2 patholabs in Jharsuguda

Two ultra-modern pathology laboratories and diagnostic centres will be set up by Vedanta at Jharsuguda and Laikera blocks of the district.

JHARSUGUDA: Two ultra-modern pathology laboratories and diagnostic centres will be set up by Vedanta at Jharsuguda and Laikera blocks of the district.

A meeting was held on Saturday at the collectorate conference hall where it was decided to make these projects functional by the end of August this year.The meeting was presided over by district Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Patnaik and attended by Jharsuguda legislator Naba Kishore Das, who said Vedanta should initiate the two projects on a priority basis as per its corporate social responsibility. He said land will be identified for these projects as early as possible. On the other hand, Vedanta CEO Abhijit Pati assured that the company is committed to establish these projects for public welfare.

Earlier, at an RPDAC meeting,  Vedanta had agreed to set up the two projects. The pathology laboratory at Jharsuguda will be set up on a plot allotted by the district administration to Vedanta. The two pathology laboratories will be set up at an average cost of around `10 crore each. Sources said Mohali based SRL Diagnostics has evinced interest to take up the two projects and look after its management.Once functional, the facilities will benefit more than 15,000 workers of Vedanta apart from the general public.
