Granting interim relief to tainted IAS officer, Vinod Kumar, the Orissa High Court on Tuesday put a stay on the order of the Vigilance court which had convicted him in a corruption case and issued non-bailable warrant. 

CUTTACK:   Granting interim relief to tainted IAS officer, Vinod Kumar, the Orissa High Court on Tuesday put a stay on the order of the Vigilance court which had convicted him in a corruption case and issued non-bailable warrant. In the interim order, the court directed the authorities concerned not to take any coercive action against the bureaucrat till further orders.

The next date of has posted to July 19, said Vinod’s counsel Pitambar Acharya. Kumar, who is currently serving as an Officer on Special Duty in the Higher Education Department along with five others was convicted by the Special Vigilance Court on July 3 in connection with a scam in Odisha Rural Housing Development Corporation, of which he was the managing director. Pleading innocence in the financial irregularities in construction of cyclone shelters and alleging improper trial by the Vigilance court, he had moved the High Court seeking relief.
