Govt nod to Rs 451.82 cr action plan under OLM

The governing body of Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM) on Thursday approved `451.82 crore action plan for the current financial year.

BHUBANESWAR:  The governing body of Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM) on Thursday approved `451.82 crore action plan for the current financial year. The action plan proposed to mobilise 30,000 new self-help groups (SHGs), cover 782 gram panchayats under the ‘intensive approach’, constitute 600 panchayat-level federations and providing funds for investment to affiliated SHGs, livelihood support to five lakh families, create of 83 organic farming clusters and extend credit support to over 1.35 lakh SHGs.

Chairing a meeting of the governing body of the OLM, Chief Secretary A P Padhi underscored the need to strengthen the producers company developed under the mission. The livelihood mission has been extended to 18,073 villages of 2,332 panchayats and 809 producer groups have been constituted.

The producer groups have transacted business worth `108 crore under three companies during 2017-18, Mission Director S R Pradhan said. He said the the mission had facilitated credit linkage to the tune of `1,504 crore to over 1.01 lakh SHGs in the last financial year as against a target of 80,000 SHGs.
