BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Government took the auspicious event of Rath Yatra to kick off a few innovative steps for the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar-2018 to be held at Kalinga Stadium from November 28 to December 16.

Amidst the blowing of conches, beating of cymbals and more than a million people chanting praises for Lord Jagannath, cyclists, Odissi dancers and Biju Yuva Vahini (BYV) volunteers raised awareness on Hockey World Cup at Puri.

Members of Bhubaneswar Cycling and Adventure Club (BCAC) cycled from Bhubaneswar to Puri wearing T-shirts engraved with Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar-2018 logo and Odisha tourism logo.

Meanwhile, Odissi dancers indulged in conversation with the crowd enlightening them about the hockey extravaganza.

On the other hand, more than 1000 Biju Yuva Vahini volunteers deployed across Puri for community services, played a part time role to talk about the World Cup.

Gopal Krishna Sahu, BCAC member said: “We cycled all the way from Bhubaneswar to Puri to promote the same. Jagannath Rath Yatra is famous globally and we are here to speak with people from around the world and invite them for the Hockey Men’s World Cup.” The State has also placed hoardings across the city to promote Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018.
