Youth held  for rape in Odisha

Police on Sunday arrested a youth for allegedly raping a girl. The complainant and the accused are natives of Nagar village in Astaranga, and they were in a relationship for last four years.

BHUBANESWAR: Police on Sunday arrested a youth for allegedly raping a girl. The complainant and the accused are natives of Nagar village in Astaranga, and they were in a relationship for last four years.
As per report, the girl, who is a BTech student and stays in the Capital, came to Bhubaneswar with her male friend Sarbeswar Behera on July 12.

They booked a room in a hotel under Nayapalli police limits and stayed there. The girl in her complaint alleged that Behera spiked the drinking water and after consuming it, she fell unconscious. Following which, Behera raped her.

The girl was rushed to a hospital here and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. After her health improved, she lodged a complaint with Nayapalli police in this regard. Behera was also staying in the Capital and working as a plumber.

A case has been registered against Behera. He was produced in a court on Sunday, Nayapalli Police said.
Police sources said Behera had kept relationship with the woman and assured that he would marry her, but his marriage was fixed with another woman recently.
