Four arrested for allegedly looting 6 lakh

A group of four dacoits was nabbed by Padampur Police on Tuesday for allegedly looting 6 lakh from businessman Bikash Agrawal of Khariar Road in Nuapada district.

BARGARH : A group of four dacoits was nabbed by Padampur Police on Tuesday for allegedly looting 6 lakh from businessman Bikash Agrawal of Khariar Road in Nuapada district. The criminals had created a fake Facebook account in the name of a girl and used it to loot the money from Agrawal. Police seized `1.52 lakh cash, two motorcycles, three mobile phones and a sharp weapon from their possession. 

The accused are Pankaj Majhi (21), Umesh Sahu (19) and Pinku alias Bhojaraj Barik (20), all from Paikmal besides, Litu alias Chouda Chandra Bohidar (26) of Padampur. On June 19, Agrawal had lodged a complaint with police stating that four persons looted `6 lakh from his car after firing one round of bullet in air to intimidate him on June 18. Subsequently, police formed a special squad to investigate into the matter. Police investigation revealed that Pankaj had created the fake Facebook account in the name of Seema Sahu and contacted Agrawal through it. The accused developed friendship with Agrawal through the social networking site.

Agrawal, who is a wholesaler of disposable plates, glasses and other items, had come to Padampur and Paikmal for collection of money from his customers and collected cash of `6 lakh. In the meantime, Pankaj sent a message through Facebook messenger and invited him to Manbhang dam in Paikmal. Later, Agrawal went to the dam where Pankaj and his accomplices looted the cash from him and fled the spot.
