Woman dies as ambulance fails due to bad road

Later, family members along with some villagers carried Jambati on a cot for two km and reached the spot where the ambulance was waiting.

MALKANGIRI : Exposing the sorry state of communication services in the tribal-dominated district of Malkangiri, a tribal woman of Kadguda village under Khairput panchayat died on way to the local community health centre after the 108 ambulance failed to turn up due to bad road condition.

Sources said after 55-year-old Jambati Kansari of Kadguda complained of severe chest pain, family members contacted the 108 ambulance services as Khairput CHC was situated four km from the village. However, the ambulance service provider turned down their request due to poor connectivity.

Later, family members along with some villagers carried Jambati on a cot for two km and reached the spot where the ambulance was waiting. Though the ambulance rushed Jambati to the CHC, the doctors declared her brought dead. Sources said the under-construction Kadguda-Khairput road has turned into a death trap due to rains.
