DHENKANAL:  Even as the State Government claims to have implemented several schemes for promoting MSMEs, entrepreneurs in the district are upset at not being given ample opportunities for growth. According to reports, the general manager of Regional Industries centre , Dhenkanal, Debabrata Jena, had recommended the names of as many as 18 entrepreneurs and handicraft artisans for participation in Puri Pallishree Mela.

But only four artisans were selected for the purpose. The MSME entrepreneurs allege that they are not being provided ample support to participate in fairs, organised by ORMAS. Besides, they rue lack of proper marketing facility to showcase and sell their products. Recently, district Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan had urged the bankers at a review meeting to extend financial assistance to MSME entrepreneurs for generating employment opportunities.

Meanwhile, Jena said the RIC had recommended names of 18 artisans and MSME entrepreneurs for Puri Pallishree Mela but only four stalls were allotted for the district. He said the authorities concerned have been urged to arrange more stalls for entrepreneurs from Dhenkanal.
