JAIPUR: A 24-year-old man was on Sunday arrested for allegedly uploading obscene video and photographs of his girlfriend on Facebook.The accused has been identified as Rama Chandra Barik of Mahabir Road under Purjang police station limits in Dhenkanal district. Kuakhia police arrested Rama from his house in Manguli in Cuttack district late last night after the 23-year-old woman filed a complaint with police on Friday.
The FIR stated that the woman from Kuakhia area was pursuing her studies in a private college in Bhubaneswar. During her study, she came in contact with Rama, a classmate, four years back. She fell in love with Rama and entered into a physical relationship. The accused had shot a few obscene photos and video of his intimate moments with the lady. The accused had posted the objectionable photographs and video on Facebook after she her completion of studies a couple of months ago. She said Rama wanted to seek revenge after the couple had parted ways a few days ago following a heated argument.The victim approached the local police after her obscene photos went viral on social media.
Based on the complaint, police filed a case and started investigation. “During interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime. He admitted to have uploaded the obscene pictures and video of his girlfriend in a fit of rage after she refused to continue the relationship”, said a police official. The accused was arrested under relevant sections of IPC and IT Acts and forwarded to local court on Sunday. He was then remanded in judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected.
