A woman drug peddler identified as Noorsha Khatun (46) was on Tuesday sent to jail by plant site police here after 20 grams of brown sugar and cash worth ` 1.66 lakh were recovered from her.

ROURKELA: A woman drug peddler identified as Noorsha Khatun (46) was on Tuesday sent to jail by plant site police here after 20 grams of brown sugar and cash worth ` 1.66 lakh were recovered from her.

Police said that six other accused involved in the drug racket are wanted by the police, said zone-III DSP PK Mishra. Rourkela SP Uma Shankar Dash said the police had received specific information acting on which a special squad raided the Meenapada locality of Mahtab Road area on Monday. He said 20 grams of brown sugar and drug sale proceeds of about ` 1.66 lakh were recovered from the accused’s possession.
The DSP said six other accomplices of the accused, who used to procure the contraband from Kharagpur, are still at large.

He said it was a difficult task to track the culprit as the contraband was hidden in tiny packets, adding that she was produced in the court of first ADJ, Rourkela. Police sources estimated the recovered quantity of drug at about ` 2 lakh.
