Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik takes on-site stock of Smart Janpath

BHUBANESWAR:Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday visited the ongoing Smart Janpath Project site and directed officials to ensure timely completion of the projects.Naveen spent some time understanding the project being taken up by Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), the progress so far and how the project is going to benefit the citizens, under the Smart City banner.

The Chief Minister also went through a presentation and various drawings, inspected the work being undertaken including the specific corridors along the road and expressed pleasure over the progress.
Senior officials of BSCL, Bhubaneswar Development Authority, BMC and state administration were present at the site opposite Bapuji Nagar, where the work has started from Sishu Bhawan end and is progressing with great pace.

The project known as redevelopment of Janpath Road to be taken up on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode include Streetscape Design, Beautification, Landscaping, Intersection Redesign, Infrastructure Upgrades in Bhubaneswar’s Town Centre District (Area Based Development) under Smart Cities Mission.

The total cost of the project is `79.56 crore. The road length to be developed under the project is 5.8 km and the deadline is two years, officials said, adding currently, construction of storm water drains, laying of  underground cables, laying of different utilities are in progress under the project.  City-based RKD Construction Pvt. Ltd is the implementing agency, they added. The features and components of the Smart Janpath Project include: beautification, landscaping, intersection redesign, and infrastructure upgrades with construction of new pavement, rehabilitation of existing pavement,construction and/or rehabilitation of major and minor bridges, culverts, road intersections,interchanges and drains.

Officials said the citizens will be greatly benefited after completion of the projects as the Janpath Road has been envisaged as the People’s smart Path and it would have dedicated corridor for pedestrians, cyclists among other facilities.
