CUTTACK: Body of a contractor with bullet injury on his head was recovered from his house at Postal Colony in Kalyani Nagar locality on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Biswa Bhusan Singh.
According to family sources, at about 10 am Singh was sitting on a sofa in the lawn of his house while other family members were busy inside. On hearing a firing sound, his family members rushed outside and found him lying on the sofa in a pool of blood with a revolver near him. They rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
After getting information, police rushed to the spot and started interrogating Singh’s family members. Police also seized the pistol, two live bullets and an empty cartridge from the spot.Preliminary investigation revealed that Singh was reportedly under mental stress for the last six months and may have committed suicide with his licensed revolver.
Basing on the report of Singh’s wife, an unnatural death case has been registered and investigation is on, said IIC, Madhupatna police station, Teroskova Mohapatra.“Singh had been facing financial problem after sustaining loss in his business. Being burdened with loans from banks, private finance companies and individual, he was under acute mental pressure.
On Tuesday, his JCB machine was seized due to non-payment of installment and he was extra tension thereby compelling him to take the extreme step,” said DCP Akhilesvar Singh adding that police could not find any other reason behind his suicide.
