BHUBANESWAR:Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has drawn up a plan to develop four new multi-level car parking (MLCP) facilities in the City. BDA has already submitted the proposal to the General Administration department for alienation of the land in favour of Housing and Urban Development department.

A multi-level car parking facility spread over 1 acre will be developed at Janata Maidan. Another facility will come up on 1.5 acre land in Kharavela Nagar behind Ram Mandir, while the third lot will be constructed over 0.98 acre in Kalpana Square and another the fourth facility will be constructed over 1.11 acre in Nayapalli near Indradhanu Market.

The four proposed parking facilities will have double basements along with a parking space on the ground floor. Similarly, first, second and third floors of each MLCP will have parking space for vehicles. The fourth, fifth and sixth floors of the MLCPs will have commercial space for recovering at least 60 per cent of the cost spent towards developing the facilities.

A multi-level car parking project in Saheed Nagar and a similar project in Unit II (Raj Mahal) under Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) is under progress. BDA’s request for proposal of the four new MLCPs has the model similar to BSCL’s two ongoing parking projects.

The proposed MLCPs will have 450 equivalent car space (ECS) per acre. ECS is the land required to park a car and approximately 23 square metre which includes the space occupied by the vehicle as well as the minimum space needed for movement of the vehicles while entering and leaving the facility.

The officials said the MLCPs will be energy efficient, environment friendly and uniquely designed along with having beautiful facades. All the facilities will be developed through engineering procurement and construction (EPC) mode.

The EPC contractor will be made responsible for all the activities including design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handing over the project to the end-user or owner. However, the EPC contractor’s design and other construction activities will be approved by a high level committee of BDA, an official said.
