BARGARH: In a major breakthrough, Bargarh police on Sunday arrested five persons, including two staffers of a non-banking finance company, for robbing cash amounting to Rs 18.40 lakh from a finance company at Bhatli Road in Bargarh town in the wee hours on Friday.

Police also seized cash worth Rs 17.44 lakh, three mobile phones and one motorcycle from the possession of the accused. The accused have been identified as two staffers of the finance company Chakradhar Sunani and Rashmi Ranjan Sahu besides three others, including mastermind Charan Tandi, Anil Jagat and Tularam Takra, all from neighbouring Nuapada district.

Briefing media persons here on Sunday, Bargarh SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo said that the unit manager of the finance company Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited (BFIL), Birupakhya Thakur, had lodged a complaint in the Town police station in which he stated that three unidentified miscreants robbed `18.40 lakh from the Bargarh branch of BFIL after tying up three staffers.

Subsequently, two teams were formed to nab the culprits involved in the crime. During investigation, it was found that Chakradhar had contacted Charan and hatched a plan for the robbery.A case has been registered under Section 342, 458 and 394 of IPC and further investigation is on.
