BHUBANESWAR:The State Government has appointed Prof Sudeep Kumar Chand of IGIT-Sarang as Chairman of Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) committee.
A notification issued by Skill Development and Technical Education (SDTE) department said the tenure of Chand will continue till 2020-21 academic session or till further orders from the State Government.
Chand will supervise and monitor the functions of OJEE Committee and assist the Policy Planning Board (PPB) in the matter of examinations and admissions of candidates to different technical and professional courses.
On the other hand, the SDTE Department as per provisions of Odisha Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of admission and fixation of fee) Act 2007 has notified a fresh fee structure for 18 private diploma engineering institutions with effect from academic session 2018-19.
The fee of KIIT Polytechnic, Nilachal Polytechnic, CV Raman Polytechnic in Bhubaneswar and Sudhananda Residential Polytechnic in Cuttack has been fixed at Rs 35,000 while for other private diploma institutes the fees is roughly between Rs 34,000 and Rs 25,800.The Government has also fixed the operational (hostel, transport and caution money) fee structure for these institutes.
The maximum hostel fee limit has been fixed at Rs 22,000 per year per student for own hostel and Rs 13,200 per year per student per year for rented hostel.For transportation, the maximum fee is Rs 8,800 for up to 20 km per year and Rs 13,200 for more than 20 km per year per student, while caution money (refundable) to be collected from students will be only Rs 500. “Institutions will not be allowed to charge any other fee in whatever name other than the fee structure prescribed above,” the department has clarified.
