A married woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the National Highway under Begunia police limits in Khurda district on Saturday morning.

BHUBANESWAR:  A married woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the National Highway under Begunia police limits in Khurda district on Saturday morning. The victim was identified as Deeptimayee Sethi of Palaspalli, here. She who was married to Vinod Sethi.

Deeptimayee’s brother-in-law, Vikash Sethi, had lodged a complaint with Airfield Police late Friday night saying that she was missing from the house. “According to the preliminary investigation, it seems the woman was murdered in Bhubaneswar and her body was dumped near Begunia. There were no blood stains at the place where the body was found,” Khurda SP Dipti Ranjan Ray said. The victim had cut marks on neck and the police suspect that she was murdered with a sharp object.

According to the police, the woman was working as an agent of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and her husband was addicted to alcohol. The police, who detained Vinod for questioning on Saturday, found bruises on his body. He told the investigators that he sustained injuries after he slipped and fell on the ground.

“As prima facie it seemed that Deeptimayee was killed, police have registered a murder case in this regard and further investigation is on,” Khurda SP said. On Saturday evening, the relatives of the victim staged a protest at Palaspalli demanding Airfield Police to probe the matter.
