Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid foundation stones for several welfare projects and dedicated those to the people of Kalahandi on Tuesday.

During his visit, Naveen laid foundation stone for a mega lift irrigation project at Ladugaon of Koksara block which will be constructed at the cost of `986.71 crores to irrigate 26,248 hectares of land in 68 villages of 29 gram panchayats of Koksara, Jaipatna and Dharamgarh blocks.

He also laid foundation stone of another mega lift irrigation project at Tundle under Kesinga block. This project would come up at the cost of `141 crore to irrigate 7700 hectares of land.

At Bhawanipatna, he flagged off sixteen 108 ambulances and inaugurated a 90 lakh litre capacity water treatment plant of PHD constructed at the cost of `1.8 crore. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation for widening of Bhawanipatna-Kasipur road and a Kalyan Mandap at Bhawanipatna to be constructed with an estimated cost of `50 lakh.

Addressing a public gathering, Naveen said his Government is laying stress on infrastructure development like road communication, besides irrigation and drinking water projects, agriculture, education and healthcare.

“In the fields of education, agriculture and healthcare, there has been visible change,” he said.

Among others, the Chief Minister was accompanied by I & PR Minister Arun Sahu and Collector Bijayaketan Upadhaya.
