CM Promises Sops for Cops in Maoist Areas

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday assured police officials serving in Maoist affected areas that they will receive due recognition in the shape of career advancements and other service benefits.

  Addressing the passing out parade of cadet sub-inspectors, sergeants and deputy subedars here, the Chief Minister said that a large number of new posts have been created and the latest sophisticated arms and equipment are being procured to face new challenges.

  Admitting to the existing training capacities of the State police not being adequate to cater to the entire training requirements, Naveen said the State Government is committed to enhance the capacity of police training institute annually.

  The Chief Minister asked the cadets to do their best to project the image of the police as a professionally competent, proactive and people-friendly force.

 “I also expect you to win the confidence of the common man by ensuring that the rule of law is upheld, the rights of individuals especially women, children and the disadvantaged, are respected and appropriate consideration and empathy is shown in dealing with them,” he said.

  The largest batch of 287 cadet sub-inspectors, sergeants and deputy subedars completed the training from the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy on Tuesday.
