Odisha's CRP Model Bags Award in Bihar

The Community Resource Person (CRP) model used by the State Government to secure land rights of poor, has bagged second prize at the Bihar Innovation Forum - an event that aimed to identify, recognise and scale high-impact livelihood innovations.

The event was organised by Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project- JEEViKA being implemented by Bihar Government with support from the World Bank.

The event showcased 67 innovations under eight livelihood themes including agriculture, livestock, financial services, rural energy, ICT-based solutions, skill development and non-farm sector, access to entitlements and services.

The Bihar Government recognised the CRP model as a unique innovation developed by Landesa, a non-governmental organisation, in partnership with the Odisha Government.

JEEViKA has sought Landesa’s support for designing and implementation of a land allocation programme in Bihar.

The CRP model was piloted in 36 villages across three districts including Ganjam.

Now it is being scaled up to 1,056 project villages in seven districts and subsequently cover 118 tribal sub-plan (TSP) blocks of the State for providing land rights to about three lakh landless families.

State Director, Landesa, Sanjay Patnaik received a cash award of `5 lakh, a citation and a trophy from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
