Gundicha Temple on Thursday was chock-a-block with devotees jostling with one another to buy the Mahaprasad. The occasion, Sandhya Darshan, is considered the most auspicious day of the nine-day Rath Yatra.

The Gundicha Temple kitchen buzzed with activity with the cooks preparing huge quantity of Mahaprasad for the offering to the Trinity.

Meanwhile, preparations for ‘Bahuda Yatra’, scheduled for Friday, are going on in full swing. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the return journey of the deities in the wake of a possible terrorist attack.

All the three chariots have been parked at Saradhabali in front of Nakachana Dwar (exit gate) of the temple.

As per a temple release, the deities will be escorted out in Goti Pahandi (one by one) from the sanctum sanctorum at 12 pm after observance of Abakash, Mailum, Surya Puja and offering of Gopal Bhog. It will be followed by Chhera Pahanra by Gajapati Dibya Singh Deb.

If the rituals are completed as per the schedule, the pulling of chariots will begin by 3pm.
