CHENNAI: Former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president and Arani Lok Sabha member M Krishnasamy, praised PMK founder and leader S Ramadoss for his "untiring work to ensure growth of the Vanniyar community." However, he also regretted that the community was being neglected.
Speaking after receiving the first copy of 'Vanniyar Varalaru,' (History of Vanniyars second volume) authored by archaeologist Nadana Kasinathan and released by Ramadoss on Sunday, Krishnaswamy said the book was an important contribution to the glorious history of Vanniyars. Pointing out that it was Vanniyar stalwarts like Manickavel Naicker, who had helped the Congress party come to power in 1952 in Tamil Nadu, he said the community was sidelined even then. Claiming that there was only one judge from the community in the High Court, out of the total 54, he alleged that this was an effort to blur the community's strengths ? ens
