12 MoUs worth Rs 20,925 crore inked in a day

The Tamil Nadu government on Monday signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with 12 companies from India and abroad with a whopping investment of Rs 20,925 crore, which would provide direct and indirect employment to over 1,36,000 persons. 

Representatives of the companies signed the MoUs at a grand ceremony in the presence of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. “Today marks a red-letter day in the annals of the industrialisation of Tamil Nadu.  Never before has the State government signed 12 MoUs on a single day,” the CM said.

The companies and their representatives who had signed MoUs with the Tamil Nadu government on Monday were: Hyundai Motor India Limited ( BS Seo, CEO - investment Rs 4,000 crore), Indo Rama Group (OP Lohia, CMD - Rs 4,500 crore), ADD Textiles and Industrial Park (Anil Sethi, Chairman - Rs 3,100 crore), BGR Energy (BG Regupathy, CMD - Rs 2,325 crore), Harsha-PPG Consortium (B Dhanraj, CMD - Rs 4,100 crore), Saint Gobain (Anand Mahajan, Chairman - Rs 400 crore), Danfoss, Denmark (Noel Ryan, president and director - Rs 500 crore), Nokia (Juha Putkiranta, Executive Vice President - Rs 250 crore), Sanmina-SCI (Muthu Sivan, Vice President and MD - Rs 250 crore), Tube Investments (MM Murugappan, Chairman - Rs 500 crore), Amway, USA (Anshu Budhraja, Chief Financial Officer -Rs 300 crore) and TVS Sundaram Clayton Group (Venu Srinivasan, CMD - Rs 700 crore). 

Industries Minister P Thangamani, Chief Secretary Debendranath Sarangi and Industries Secretary Vikram Kapur were among the those who spoke at the ceremony.
