Alagiri flays Jayalalithaa government over dengue fever

Taking a swipe at the Jayalalithaa Government, Union Minister and DMK leader M K Alagiri today said the district administration was more interested in taking action against the party workers than to control dengue fever which has affected several people in southern districts.

"I am getting enormous complaints about existence of dengue in Madurai. Many people have succumbed to dengue in Melur area. I have forwarded all the complaints to the District Collector. But the Collector was more interested in taking action against us(DMK men)than in controlling dengue"

"The Tamil Nadu Government also has not taken steps to control the dengue which had claimed many lives," he charged.

On Jayalalithaa's charge that the previous DMK regime and the Centre were responsible for the power crisis in the state, shot back "It has become a habit for the Chief Minister to blame others. Who is responsible if the power generation has come down from what it was earlier?".

DMK Chief M Karunanidhi had suggested that the Chief Minister visit Delhi to get adequate power supply for the state, but she had not done so. If the state government had desired, it could have got the Kundankulam Nuclear Power plant commissioned long ago, he added.

To a question if the law and order situation in the state had become bad, he said "Not only law and order every sector has become bad. There is no power, but the media is not exposing them."
