Jayalalithaa returns to Chennai from Kodanadu

After a 45-day stay in the hilly Kodanadu in Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa returned here on Tuesday.

She arrived by a special aircraft from Coimbatore this afternoon.

Jayalalithaa had left here for Kodanadu on June 28. A government release had then said she would stay in Kodanadu estate for a few weeks and continue to discharge her official duties from there.

Jayalalithaa's stay in Kodanadu drew criticism from her arch rival and DMK President M Karunanidhi.

However, she had dismissed his statement saying it was like that of a man in the "stone-age".

"It is important whether the Chief Minister is taking determined, selfless, just and impartial decisions on any issue or the decision is taken with selfishness considering the welfare of the Chief Minister's own family. It is not important from where the decisions are being taken," she had said.
