A day after its presidium chairman Panruti S Ramachandran dramatically retired from active politics, the DMDK called for a meeting of its Executive Committee to be held at its party headquarters in Koyambedu on Thursday.

A press release from the party said the meeting will discuss the future course of action for the party and its strategy for the Lok Sabha elections.

Sources told Express that party president Vijayakant is also set to seek a report card on the work done by party leaders in past few months. He will also discuss the options for forging alliances for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

“Both the Congress and the BJP have sent feelers to us. This will be part of the deliberations tomorrow,” said a party functionary.

However, sources said Vijayakant may not bring up the topic of the retirement of Ramachandran directly. “It is unlikely that the matter would be discussed,” said the party leader.
