Call to Make Jaya PM Echoes on MGR Anniv

The AIADMK workers gathered at the MGR memorial on Marina to pay homage on his 26th death anniversary and vowed to make party general secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa the next Prime Minister.

The AIADMK supremo, accompanied by senior party colleagues and party cadre, paid floral tributes to her political mentor and former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran, at his memorial on Marian Beach.

Later, Jayalalithaa and party functionaries gathered at the dais in front of the memorial to take oath. Finance Minister and AIADMK treasurer O Panneerselvam read out as many as 16 pledges to the cadre. Recalling the services of Jayalalithaa to the party for the past 31 years, Panneerselvam said that party founder MGR had sent her to Rajya Sabha many decades ago only as a prelude to her evolution as a national leader. “Time has ripened now for Amma, who is making Tamil Nadu a prosperous State, to assume the leading position in the country. The aspiration to make Jayalalithaa as the next Prime Minister is running through the veins of every AIADMK cadre. Let us make history by realising it by winning the Lok Sabha elections and also by winning all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry”, he said.

Panneerselvam said Jayalalithaa alone could establish communal harmony in India where people of different faiths live. Besides, she alone could protect the natural resources of the country. Similar function was held across the state where AIADMK cadre and general public paid tributes to MGR.
