PMK wants India to vote against Sri Lanka

Activists of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Tuesday staged a demonstration in front of the head post office here urging the Centre to vote against Sri Lanka in the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The demonstrators, led by party’s State secretary R K R Anantharaman, demanded that the Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa be declared a ‘War Criminal’ for perpetrating inhuman atrocities over Tamils during the final phase of Eelam war. They also sought an end to attacks on Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.

The activists shouted slogans against the Sri Lankan government and its president Rajapaksa.

Codemn Devananda’s Announcement: Forum

National Fish Workers Forum (NFF) general secretary M Ilango urged that the Centre summon the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India and condemn the announcement of Lankan Minister Douglas Devananda about an agitation by Lankan fishermen along Tamil Nadu coast.

Ilango on Tuesday said that subsequent to Douglas’ announcement, Indian fishermen were attacked by Sri Lankan navy personnel and beaten up.
