Check building plan permission online

With a view to enabling applicants know the status of their building plan permission application, the Chennai Corporation has introduced an online facility, which was inaugurated by Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy here on Monday.

According to Corporation officials, the system, which is part of a Budget announcement, has been introduced to simplify the existing procedure.

Speaking to ‘Express’, a Corporation official said, “Under the existing sytem, the applicants are required to come in person every time to the zonal offices to know the status of their application.  Hence, to make the procedure much easier, the Chennai Corporation has developed this new system. From now on, applicants can check the status of their application from home.”

The official further said that a new software had been developed for the procedure and that the officials concerned at the zonal offices had been given proper training.

Explaining the system, the official said an acknowledgement is sent to the applicant through SMS or email after the application for plan permission and building approval is submitted.

The date of site inspection will be informed to the applicant again through SMS or email within three days of receipt of the application. In case  there is any delay in carrying out the site inspection, it will be brought to the attention of higher officials and necessary action will be taken.

After the site inspection, if any additional information is required, it will be informed through SMS or email. If the application is found passable and is approved, the same will be intimated to the applicant via SMS or email.
